Priyanka Khurana Goyal
We are less than a month away from the conference that we all have been waiting for since June. So, we believe that it is high time that the TEDxDharamshala community is introduced to the inspiring personalities that would grace our stage on the 12th of November. In a series of blogs starting from this one, we’ll be dedicating one post to each of our speakers. Stay tuned as we take you through the astounding lives of the speakers of TEDxDharamshala 2017.
‘Beauty with Brain’ is an understatement for Mrs. Priyanka Khurana Goyal, the winner of Mrs. Earth, 2016 pageant. In a world where women have to prove their worth every day so as to be taken seriously, Mrs. Goyal takes being an achiever to the next level. From a graduation from the prestigious IIM to an investment banker to Executive Director of Nomura Securities to being a mother, and the queen of beauty, Priyanka Khurana Goyal is a name synonymous with the idea of a Superwoman.
While many women feel that marriage is the end of their dreams, Mrs. Goyal continued to add more feathers to her cap even after her son was born. At 16, she wanted to participate in the Ms. India beauty pageant. A dream that she couldn’t fulfill due to the lack of support from her father. Mrs. Goyal graduated from IIM Calcutta and after completing her post-graduation found placement at Lehman Brother in London. After her stint at the Lehman Brothers, she joined Nomura Securities as their Executive director. Following the suggestion by a friend to take part in the Mrs. India pageant, Mrs. Goyal dominated the beauty world by winning the Mrs. Earth title the same year.
Now Mrs. Goyal is an active social worker who is using her position to support many causes close to her heart. She is involved in a number of initiatives with young women-led organizations in the field of fashion and creative designing. She is the brand ambassador of Festival of Hope to create cancer awareness and she is a regular voice/fundraiser at all Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital events.
While Mrs. Goyal doesn’t fail to support any cause that her influence can help, the two enterprises that have been the closest to her heart are the environment and child welfare. She has worked extensively in these two fields and has received support from various legislators and NGOs. Her presence in the corporate world, extensive social work, and influential presence has been recognized by the Fortune magazine, that short-listed her for the ‘50 most powerful women in India’.
Fashion and Modelling
Mrs. Goyal has the best of both worlds as she continues her corporate career while still being a major icon in the fashion industry. She has been the show stopper at multiple fashion shows like Lakme Fashion Week, India Fashion Week Dubai, India Fashion Week London, to name a few. She has worked with renowned names of the fashion industry. Among them are designers like Manish Malhotra, Shaina NC, Meera & Mujjafar Ali, Anju Modi, Tejas Gandhi; and photographers, like Vijay Kabra, Siddhesh Savant, Nittin Bedi, Arindom Choudhury, Shardul Navare, among others.
She has been the face of multiple campaigns for brands over the course of the past one year. Asian Star – India’s leading diamond merchant, Spa La Vie by L’Occitane – 5 star leading spa from France, Warren Tricomi Salon – NY based leading fashion salon, Richfeel – India’s No 1 trichology centre, Seema Mehta’s Label of Luxury – designer wear shoot, Baqar Nasser’s TOPSPIN – Mumbai’s No 1 spinning studio, are just a few names in the long list of campaigns that Mrs. Goyal has been a part of.
Mrs. Priyanka Khurana Goyal is a woman that is one in a thousand. Yet, her life inspires everyone who is following to try and reach their true potential. TEDxDharamshala is honored to have her grace our stage for our conference on the 12th of November where she speaks about problems with parenting in our society these days, in a talk titled, “Do I really love my child?”
